Songs About Me by Trace Adkins CD Review

Country music sensation Trace Adkins has released his latest CD entitled Songs About Me.

One song makes this CD well worth the listen, Honky Tonk Badonkadonk. Awesome baby!

Now, I’m not a huge country music fan, in fact it’s more like I just like to explore any and all genres of music and whatever I find that I like, I like. Regardless of genre. I stumbled across Honky Tonk Badonkadonk on somewhat of a lark and just had to check out the entire CD. Wow, am I ever glad I did.

The CD launches with the title track, Songs About Me on which the silky smooth voiced Adkins basically tells his life story. Which by the way is I think what makes him work so well with country music fans. He’s a guy who has lived the music he sings. That never hurts.

Anyway, Songs About Me is a collection of tracks that has just the right mix of everything as far as I’m concerned. Up tempo, down tempo, and songs that take you deep like track 2, Arlington. Reminding us that at the end of the day we’re all more alike than we are different.

These days it’s a very rare CD on which every single song is easy to listen to. This CD is certainly one of those rare CDs. Not even one of them will make you anxious to get on to the next one.

Overall it’s an outstanding release. What I call, must have music. I give it two thumbs up. Even though Songs About Me is very decidedly country, this is an album any music fan can enjoy. I sure do.

The standout tunes are Songs About Me are [track 1], Arlington [track 2], and I Learned How To Love From You [track 10]. My SmoothLee Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 11, Honky Tonk Badonkadonk. Lovin It!

Amore by Andrea Bocelli CD Review

The supremely talented Andrea Bocelli has released his latest CD entitled Amore, and it is simply a beautiful collection of the most romantic and soothing songs available on any CD.

While I have been accused of having musical tastes that are insanely wide and varied I should make it clear that until recently I have not been a fan at all of Bocelli, but ended up catching his Under the Desert Sky performance from Las Vegas on PBS and rather enjoyed it.

This led me to look deeper into Amore and have found it to be an excellent production.

Including some of today’s top pop stars on several of the tracks makes it even better. Contributions are made to the project by performers like Stevie Wonder and Christina Aguilera making this a really diverse CD.

I will without hesitation say that one doesn’t even have to be a fan of classical music to enjoy Bocelli’s Amore. With the Spanish influence throughout the CD, and the excellent vocals performed by some of the top vocalists of today this a collection music fans will surely not regret owning.

While this entire CD is outstanding the truly standout tunes are Besame Mucho [track 2], Somos Novios [track 5], and Canzoni Stonate [track 9]. My SmoothLee Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 13, Because We Believe. Very nice!

Andrea Bocelli originally released Amore on January 31, 2006 on the Sugar record label.

2. Besame Mucho

5. Somos Novios (It’s Impossible) - Duet with Christina Aguilera

6. Solamente Una Vez

7. Jurame

8. Pero Te Extrano

9. Canzoni Stonate - Featuring Stevie Wonder on harmonica and vocals

10. L’Appuntamento

11. Cuando Me Enamoro

12. Can’t Help Falling In Love - Live At Lake Las Vegas

13. Because We Believe

Living With War by Neil Young CD Review

Neil Young, The Canadian music Hall of Famer and former member of Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills, and Nash has released his latest politically charged CD entitled Living With War. His second release in under a year.

Be warned that this CD is unabashedly a protest album by this Canadian born American.

Whether you’re a fan of his politics or not, I think we have to acknowledge that lyrically this is an intelligent, and well thought out CD.

I like it for the fact that it is bound to elicit a response from all who listen. Without regard for positive or negative it will certainly keep the debate open and alive. Which is exactly why it’s a good release.

I also like it for the song that closes it out. A 100 voice choir rendition of America the Beautiful.

Overall Living With War is Neil Young as we have come to know him over the course of the last 40 years. Outspoken and direct. If you don’t mind that style you will enjoy this CD.

The standout tunes on Living With War include the title track Living With War [track 2], The Restless Consumer [track 3], and Lookin’ for a Leader [track 8]. My SmoothLee Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 5, America the Beautiful. Very nice!

Release Notes:

Neil Young originally released Living With War on May 9, 2006 on the Reprise record label.

CD track list follows:

1. After the Garden
2. Living With War
3. The Restless Consumer
4. Shock and Awe
5. Families
6. Flags of Freedom
7. Let’s Impeach the President
8. Lookin’ for a Leader
9. Roger and Out
10. America the Beautiful
